JILLIAN ORTNER
Graduate Student
BME - Georgia Tech/Emory
Biography
I am a first-year graduate student in the Davis Lab. I'm originally from Orlando, Florida, and earned a bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Georgia Tech. My undergraduate research focused on hemodynamics and leaflet kinematics of transcatheter aortic valve designs to improve flow characteristics and reduce thrombogenicity. I spent four years in the medical device industry working on vascular grafts and endovascular stent grafts before coming back to Georgia Tech and Emory University for graduate studies. Outside of research, I enjoy a variety of outdoor activities, including hiking, canyoneering, and stargazing.
