Biography

Originally from Bowling Green, Kentucky, I earned my bachelor’s and master’s degrees in chemical engineering at the University of Louisville in Louisville, KY. As an undergraduate, I worked in research and development at a bourbon distillery. I became interested in research after taking part in the NSF REU program at Illinois Institute of Technology in Chicago. As a master’s student, my research involved modeling fluid flow inside a bioreactor using computational fluid dynamics. My present work involves design of injectable hydrogels for delivery of cells to the heart and the role of Notch1 signaling in cardiac cell differentiation.
